# RP GEN — SEASON 1 ## OFFICIAL RULES ### WELCOME TO RP GEN Welcome to a new way to compete within the RP Tennis community. **RP GEN was created to complement the RP League**, bringing a more dynamic competition format, new opponents and different challenges throughout the season. Your **age defines your Generation**, while your RP League level determines your **starting position** in D1, D2 or D3. But in RP GEN, **your starting division is not permanent.** The divisions are dynamic. As the ranking develops throughout the season, players can **move up or down between D1, D2 and D3**. A player who starts in **D2 can move into D1**. A player who starts in **D1 can move down to D2**. The same movement can happen between **D2 and D3**. This means players from different RP League categories may face each other, creating matchups that would not normally happen in the traditional RP League format. **Your RP League category determines where you start. Your results in RP GEN determine where you go.** RP GEN complements the RP League with a different challenge: a dynamic ranking where every Cycle can bring new opponents, new positions and new opportunities to move up. Welcome to **RP GEN.** --- ### 1. GENERATIONS Players are divided into three Generations based on their age on **December 13, 2026**, the end of the Regular Season: **NEXT GEN:** 34 & Under **PRIME GEN:** 35–48 **MASTER GEN:** 49+ Your Generation is determined by the age you will be on December 13, 2026. --- ### 2. DIVISIONS Each Generation has one dynamic ranking divided into **3 competitive divisions: D1, D2 and D3.** Initial placement is based on the player's current RP League level: **D1:** GOLD / SILVER+ / SILVER **D2:** BRONZE+ / BRONZE / BLACK+ **D3:** BLACK / WHITE+ / WHITE These categories determine the **initial placement only**. Depending on the final number of registered players in each Generation, RP GEN may adjust the initial placement of players to keep **D1, D2 and D3 as evenly sized as possible**. After the competition begins, the divisions are **dynamic**. At the end of each Cycle, the ranking is updated and players may **move between divisions based on their new ranking position**: **D2 → D1** **D1 → D2** **D3 → D2** **D2 → D3** The objective is to maintain balanced divisions while allowing players to **earn their way up — or move down — based on their performance throughout the season.** Matchups for the next Cycle are generated according to each player's **updated division and ranking position**. --- ### 3. SEASON FORMAT The Regular Season consists of **4 Cycles:** Cycle 1: Oct 5 → Oct 25 Cycle 2: Oct 26 → Nov 15 Cycle 3: Nov 16 → Nov 29 Cycle 4: Nov 30 → Dec 13 The shorter final Cycles allow the Regular Season to be completed within the scheduled RP GEN season period. During each Cycle, every player plays **2 matches within their current division:** • **1 NEAR MATCH** — against a player positioned close to them in their current division ranking. • **1 FAR MATCH** — against a player positioned farther away in their current division ranking. **D1 plays D1, D2 plays D2, and D3 plays D3.** At the end of each Cycle, the ranking is updated. Players may move between divisions, and their new division and ranking position determine the **Near and Far Matchups for the next Cycle**. Each player plays **8 Regular Season matches** across the 4 Cycles. --- ### 4. RANKING Each Generation has one Overall Ranking divided into **D1, D2 and D3**. Points are **cumulative throughout all 4 Cycles**. There is **no ranking reset between Cycles**. At the end of each Cycle, the updated ranking determines each player's position and may result in **promotion or movement to a lower division** for the following Cycle. --- ### 5. MATCH FORMAT All matches are played **Best of 3 Sets**. If the match reaches one set all, the 3rd set is replaced by a **10-Point Match Tiebreak**. The Match Tiebreak must be won by **2 points**. --- ### 6. SCHEDULING The **Home Player** is responsible for initiating contact with the Away Player. The Home Player must contact the opponent by **Tuesday following the release of the match**. The Home Player must offer **3 different time options on 3 different days**, covering: • Morning • Afternoon • After 6:00 PM Players may play their match at any mutually agreed time within the Cycle. --- ### 7. WALKOVER (WO) If the Home Player follows the scheduling requirements and the Away Player cannot accept any of the 3 required options, the **Home Player may receive the WO**. The scheduling requirements must be properly followed for a WO to be awarded. --- ### 8. TIEBREAKERS Regular Season ties are decided in the following order: 1. Points 2. Number of Wins 3. Set Differential 4. Game Differential 5. Head-to-Head, when applicable 6. Alphabetical Order --- ### 9. GEN FINALS At the end of the Regular Season, the top-ranked players from each division will qualify for the **GEN FINALS**. There will be separate Finals for: **D1 • D2 • D3** Players compete in the GEN FINALS corresponding to the division in which they finish the Regular Season. The exact number of qualifiers from each division will be determined after registration closes and the final number of players is confirmed. If a tie directly affects qualification for the GEN FINALS and remains tied after all Regular Season tiebreaker criteria are applied, the tied players will play a **Best-of-3 Regular Match** to determine who qualifies. This match is used only to determine qualification and awards **no ranking points**. --- ### 10. IMPORTANT DATES **Registration Deadline:** October 4, 2026 at 12:01 PM **Season Opening:** October 5, 2026 **Matches Begin:** October 5, 2026 **GEN FINALS:** Date to be announced --- ### 11. OFFICIAL PLATFORM Schedules, matchups, results, rankings and official competition information will be available at: **app.rptennisleague.com** Players are responsible for checking the platform and staying updated on their matches, ranking and deadlines.
